BowTie, Inc. Wins Nine Editorial Excellence Awards

Pet Publishing Giant Honored at Dog Writers Association of America Awards Banquet

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- BowTie, Inc., the world's largest publisher of pet and animal magazines, received nine Maxwell awards for editorial excellence at the 2007 annual Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) awards banquet in New York, N.Y., on February 10, 2008.

Dogs for Kids magazine took home the Maxwell, DWAA's editorial excellence award, for best Special-Interest Magazine for the second consecutive year. "I was thrilled. Being recognized for quality work by your peers is the highest honor," says Editor Jackie Franza.

BowTie also took home awards for the first time in the humor, poetry and Internet categories. Illustration Director Tom Kimball's artwork in the article "Tales of the Absurd" in the Popular Dogs Housetraining Magabook, won the award for Humor: Writing and Art. His colorful illustrations depicted several humorous housetraining scenarios that all dog owners can relate to. Nikki Moustaki, a regular BowTie contributor, won the Poetry category for her poem, "Ode to my Pomeranian," which appeared in the Popular Dogs Pomeranians issue. Additionally, Peter Gerstenzang, Dog Fancy humor writer won the Maxwell for the best Regular Internet Column for his DogChannel.com column, "My Bone to Pick."

The 2007 Dogs USA annual was also awarded the best Yearbook, Annual or Special Publication.

Other BowTie contributors were also recognized for their writing. Bo Bengtson won the Feature in a Special-Interest Magazine for his article "China 2007 -- the Giant Awakens" in the July 2007 issue of Dogs in Review. Eve Adamson won the Feature in a Yearbook, Annual or Special Publication for "Ooh La-La" from the Popular Dogs French Bulldogs volume.

Additionally, BowTie Press and Kennel Club Books, divisions of BowTie, were honored for two of their books. Dogs for Kids! won for Best Children's Book and Rescue Me! won Best Soft-Cover Guide.
