Equatorial Energia Records EBITDA Of R$379.3 Million In 2007, 11.3% Up On 2006, With An EBITDA Margin Of 43.2%

SAO LUIS, Brazil, March 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Equatorial Energia S.A. (Bovespa: EQTL11) announces its results for the fourth quarter (4Q07) and full year of 2007. Equatorial is a holding company with investments in Light S.A. and a 65.2% interest in CEMAR - Companhia Energetica do Estado do Maranhao, the electricity distributor for the entire state of Maranhao. As of February 12, 2008, Equatorial retained 25% of Rio Minas Energia (RME), which in turn maintains a 52.2% interest in Light, which generates, distributes and sells electricity in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The financial and operating information contained herein is presented in consolidated figures, pursuant to the Brazilian Corporate Law, based on revised financial information. Non-financial information relating to CEMAR, Equatorial Energia, and the PLPT (Programa Luz para Todos -- Light for All Program) were not reviewed by the independent auditors.

FINANCIAL AND OPERATING HIGHLIGHTS
-- Annual billed energy volume totaled 3,219 GWh, 10.5% up on the previous
year.
-- Net operating revenues amounted to R$879 million in 2007, 8.5% higher
than in 2006.
-- Annual EBITDA stood at R$379.3 million, 11.3% up on the 2006 figure of
R$340.7 million.
-- Net income totaled R$154.4 million in 2007, a 23.2% improvement over
the previous year.
-- On December 21, 2007, Fundo PCP acquired GP Energia's interest in
Brasil Energia, thereby concentrating control of Equatorial and CEMAR.
-- Energy losses, excluding basic network losses, fell by 1.1 p.p. over
2006.
-- CEMAR's PLPT reached 148,300 connections at year end and direct
investments related to the program totaled R$194.6 million, 15.1% up
on 2006.
