Seattle Selected to Host National League of Cities' Convention in 2013

WASHINGTON, March 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Seattle, Wash., was selected today by the National League of Cities (NLC) as the site for its 2013 Congress of Cities and Exposition. The five-day conference, tentatively scheduled for November 12-16, 2013, will bring thousands of local elected officials together from across the country to share ideas and successful city programs.

"Seattle has much to offer and showcase," said Richard Conlin, Seattle's council president, who made the presentation to the NLC Board of Directors today. "The cities of America and Seattle belong together. We're a city of innovation and we look forward to sharing our ideas and hearing what other cities are doing."

The Congress of Cities and Exposition serves as NLC's annual convention and offers a wide variety of learning opportunities for municipal leaders, including general sessions featuring well-known speakers and a myriad of workshops addressing critical issues of importance to municipal officials and their communities. The Exposition features an extensive exhibit hall showcasing products and services for local governments and award-winning city programs from across the country.

The NLC Board made the site selection today at this year's Congressional City Conference, held in Washington, DC, through March 12, 2008. A city must be a direct member of the National League of Cities to host the annual conference.
