Aerojet's Redmond Facility Celebrates One Million Man Hours Without a Recordable Injury or Lost Day from Work
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE:GY) company, announced today that its Redmond, Wash. operation has achieved one million man hours with no recordable incident injuries or lost days from work. Aerojet Redmond's achievement of this record occurred over a year long period, spanning from Jan. 2007 to March 2008. "Redmond Operations has an established Safety Committee that is successfully working with our employees to ensure ongoing safe operations. It is a constant focus of our efforts," said Redmond General Manager, Roger Myers.
This safety milestone is a direct result of Aerojet Redmond employees' ongoing commitment to safety awareness and practices. The Plant Safety Committee, established in the 1980s to promote and recognize the critical impact of working safely, is comprised of volunteers and management representatives who meet monthly to identify safety issues and to implement practical solutions. The Safety Committee provides support to Aerojet Redmond's Management and Environmental Health and Safety department to promote ongoing commitment to safety in the workplace. "We are proud of our Redmond employees and their continued focus on safety -- it is our top priority," said Aerojet President Scott Neish. Recognizing Aerojet's enterprise-wide safety consciousness, Aerojet's Camden, Ark. facility also was awarded the National Safety Council's '2007 National Safety Achievement Award' last year. The award is granted to those workplaces that achieve one million work hours without having an injury resulting in a lost workday. Aerojet's Camden facility achieved two million man hours without a lost day from work as of Dec. 2007.
