Eletropaulo Posted Net Income of R$ 712.6 Million, R$ 339.3 Million Above 2006 Results
SAO PAULO, Brazil, March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de Sao Paulo S.A. (Bovespa: ELPL3, ELPL5 and ELPL6; OTC: EPUMY and ELPSY), the largest electric energy distribution Company in Latin America, today announced its results for the fiscal year of 2007.

The process of improving the Company's debt profile included the renegotiation of R$ 1,350.0 million with the local market, which resulted in a drop in debt average cost from CDI + 2.6% in 2006 to CDI + 1.3% in 2007 and the extension of average maturity from 2.8 years in 2006 to 4.9 years in 2007. Dividends corresponding to the first half of 2007 and totaling R$ 487.8 million were paid in advance. At the General Shareholders' Meeting scheduled for April 23, 2008, Management will propose that R$ 227.2 million be distributed as dividends and interest on equity. With this amount, payments will come to R$ 715.0 million, which correspond to a payout of 100.3% of its Fiscal 2007 net earnings.
