Pacific Council Appoints Dr. Jerrold Green as its Next CEO

LOS ANGELES, March 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of the Pacific Council on International Policy is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jerrold Green, Senior Advisor for the Middle East and South Asia at the RAND Corporation, as the Council's next President and Chief Executive Officer. Green will also serve as Research Professor at the University of Southern California.

The Pacific Council is a selective membership, international affairs organization, with the membership consisting of more than 1200 leaders from diverse professional and business backgrounds, and with headquarters located on the campus of the University of Southern California. Throughout the year the Council hosts highly interactive programs that regularly draw a distinguished group of speakers and participants, complemented by the growing think tank capacity of Fellows and Task Forces.

Dr. Green previously served in several leadership positions at RAND, including Director of International Programs and Development, Director of the Center for Middle East Public Policy and Associate Chairman of the Research Staff Management Department. Prior to joining RAND, Green was Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and Professor of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Arizona. During the period from 2004-2006, Dr. Green was a partner in Best Associates, a merchant banking firm with extensive international business interests headquartered in Dallas.

Green is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has served on the boards of several corporations and universities, and civic groups including the Asia Society of Southern California, Cappello Group, Inc., the Conektas Group, Dubai, the Defense Group, Inc., and the Middle East Institute, Columbia University.

Dr. Green will take up his appointment as President and CEO of the Pacific Council in May, after Dr. Geoffrey Garrett leaves to become founding CEO of the United States Studies Centre in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Green holds an MA and PhD in political science from the University of Chicago and a BA from the University of Massachusetts/Boston.
