U.S. Census Bureau Opens Regional Census Center and Kicks Off Partnership Efforts in Detroit
WASHINGTON, March 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by the U.S. Census Bureau:
What: The U.S. Census Bureau, along with state and local officials, will mark the two-year countdown to the 2010 Census with the grand opening of its Detroit Regional Census Center in downtown Detroit's Stroh River Place. The event signals the beginning of a massive outreach campaign to partner with local officials, community leaders and businesses to ensure an accurate count of the population in 2010. Detroit is one of 12 regional offices that will open a regional census center, with local offices to follow later this fall. The Detroit Regional Census Center will be the hub of census activity for parts of the Midwest, including employing 35,000 to 40,000 temporary workers at the height of census operations.
