Lapeer Industries, Inc., founded in 1974 in Lapeer, Michigan, is a privately held company with 350 employees. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation was instrumental in securing a $10 million bond enabling Lapeer Industries to purchase the real estate and equipment necessary to produce this cab. Also instrumental was the Lapeer Economic Development Corporation and the Mayor's office of Lapeer. The National Guard and TACOM were both instrumental in getting the M939 vehicle approved for use by the National Guard as well as gaining its approval for deployment in combat theatres through the year 2032.
