Phillies Baseball Season Starts With SEPTA Broad Street Line Service
PHILADELPHIA, March 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National League East Champion Philadelphia Phillies have high hopes for the 2008 baseball season and SEPTA Broad Street Line service will be along for every stretch of the ride.
Phillies fans using the Broad Street Line will avoid the expected traffic jams in the area of the South Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment Complex as well as the expensive parking fees. SEPTA will operate special Broad Street Line "Sports Express" trains on Friday and Saturday (March 28-29), for the pre-season games against the Toronto Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park. For the 7:05 p.m. game on Friday, Sports Express trains will leave Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:18 p.m., 6:28 p.m. and 6:38 p.m. en route to Pattison Station at the South Philadelphia Sports and Entertainment Complex. For the 1:05 p.m. game on Saturday, Sports Express trains will leave Fern Rock at 11:52 a.m., 12:08 p.m., 12:23 p.m. and 12:38 p.m.
For the Phillies opening day 3:05 p.m. game on Monday, March 31 against the Washington Nationals, SEPTA will run Broad Street Line Sports Express trains from Fern Rock at 2:08 p.m. and 2:18 p.m. On weekdays Broad Street Line trains operate with local and regular express service throughout the day. On the weekends, local Broad Street Line trains operating about every eight to 12 minutes throughout the day. Broad Street Line Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Avenue Station and Citizens Bank Park. The express trip from City Hall to the stadium takes only about eight minutes. After the games fans will find northbound express and local trains standing by to provide frequent service back to Fern Rock.
