NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., April 3, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (NASDAQ:IPCM), a leading provider of hospitalist services, announced that it was added to the Russell 2000(R) Index effective March 31, 2008.

The Russell 2000(R) Index measures the performance of the small-cap segment of the U.S. equity universe. The Russell 2000(R) Index is a subset of the Russell 3000(R) Index representing approximately 10% of the total market capitalization of that index. It includes approximately 2000 of the smallest securities based on a combination of their market cap and current index membership. Based on the monthly statistics as of February 29, 2008, the median market capitalization of the Russell 2000(R) Index was approximately $516 million.

The Russell 2000(R) Index is constructed to provide a comprehensive and unbiased small-cap barometer and is completely reconstituted annually to ensure larger stocks do not distort the performance and characteristics of the true small-cap opportunity set.
