14 Year Journey for Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation Scholar to Earn College Degree
NEW YORK, April 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Eurydice Robinson, who was awarded a Richard and Mica scholarship for creative writing in 1994, is graduating this May from College of New Rochelle with a major in Sociology. The degree completes her 14-year journey to a college education.
Recently Eurydice commented on her experience: "At the time I was awarded a Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation scholarship I was 3 months pregnant and unsure which direction I wanted to take. I almost gave up college, but in addition to the scholarship, the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation also assigned me a mentor. He not only supported me with conversations throughout school but also in many conversations about life." After her daughter was born, Eurydice Robinson worked for a local community center in New York City. She home-schooled her daughter for the next few years while working various jobs. Finally, in 2001 she made the decision to return to college. She has been enrolled on and off for seven years at The College of New Rochelle, while managing her family and her career.
Throughout Eurydice Robinson's journey to a degree, the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation offered continual support. Eurydice recently reflected: "Richard and Mica Hadar have been the primary stakeholders in my education. In my grandest dreams I wouldn't have imagined that a scholarship organization would be willing to take a stand for me, each and every time I stepped back up to the plate. For this gesture of faith I am humbly and abundantly grateful. From the first day I didn't have money to purchase books, or to pay a portion of my tuition, the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation was there. Your commitment has made a difference in my life." Richard Hadar remarked, "Everyone at the foundation couldn't be prouder of Eurydice's remarkable achievements. She is an inspiration and role model for all of us, proving that never giving up can reap rewards in life. She not only overcame many obstacles to earn her degree, raise her daughter and build a career, but she did all this as a single parent. We were delighted that the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation programs were able to assist her in her endeavors and achievements." First Call Analyst:
