will discuss Oil Prices and the Falling Dollar:
Why America Can't Afford to Limit its Options

Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE), a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization, was formed in 2004 to educate and advocate for real, practical solutions to America's energy security vulnerabilities. In 2006, SAFE joined with Frederick W. Smith -- Chairman, President, and CEO of FedEx Corporation -- and General P.X. Kelley (Ret.) -- 28th Commandant of the Marine Corps -- to create the Energy Security Leadership Council (ESLC), a group of prominent business leaders and retired senior military officers dedicated to addressing the economic and security aspects of oil dependence.

Since then, SAFE and the ESLC have been at the forefront of the energy security debate. In December 2006, the ESLC released its Recommendations to the Nation on Reducing U.S. Oil Dependence, a comprehensive plan to improve our energy security. A year later, Congress passed and the President signed into law groundbreaking legislation centered on an increase in vehicle fuel-economy standards matching that in the Recommendations.

Now, SAFE is releasing a new study exploring recent oil price volatility and the effect of a plunging U.S. dollar on energy prices. The study concludes that expanding domestic production of oil and natural gas is a crucial next step to improving America's energy security, and therefore economic strength and national security.
