There is No Debate: Pennsylvania is Best Destination for Visitors, Gov. Rendell Says
2008 Travel Guide makes Debut on Scene of Primary Debate HARRISBURG, Pa., April 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell says there is no need to "debate" the fact that the new 2008 Pennsylvania Travel Guide makes planning a memorable roadtrip easy and fun.
Complimentary copies of the colorful, 192-page guide, which features dynamic photography, detailed maps and suggested roadtrips, will be available tomorrow at the Independence Visitors Center in Philadelphia, adjacent to the National Constitution Center where the Democratic presidential debate will be held. Travel guides can also be obtained through visitPA.com, by calling 1-800-VISITPA, or by visiting one of the state's 15 welcome centers. "As thousands are drawn to Philadelphia for the presidential primary debate, I wanted to ensure the best resource available for planning an incredible experience in Pennsylvania was now available," Governor Rendell said. "Our new travel guide offers a unique look at the countless opportunities our commonwealth has to offer."
The guide contains a comprehensive listing of 2,489 accommodations and 1,450 attractions, outdoor recreation and visitor services; information on major events and fun festivals as well as regional must sees. Additionally, the guide includes the "On the Road in Pennsylvania" section that explores the major arteries that crisscross the commonwealth. The cover of this year's guide features a picture of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpiece, Fallingwater. Located in the scenic Laurel Highlands, this one-of-a-kind house on a waterfall was chosen to observe the yearlong celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of nearby Pittsburgh. The special events planned in the city are only a few of the many exciting attractions highlighted in the travel guide. The Pennsylvania Tourism Office, under the state Department of Community and Economic Development, is dedicated to fulfilling the needs and aspirations of travelers by presenting them with the information and resources they need to plan and enjoy the activities, attractions and destinations that are uniquely Pennsylvania.
