Absentee Ballots Due Friday, Secretary Cortes Reminds Pennsylvanians
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Absentee ballots must be received by county election bureaus by 5 p.m. tomorrow, April 18, Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro A. Cortes today reminded Pennsylvania voters.
"With the increase in registration and the surge in excitement about Pennsylvania's primary, we're especially committed to making sure voters know their rights and responsibilities," Cortes said. "In addition to the deadline to cast an absentee ballot, we want to remind first-time absentee voters they must include a copy of an approved from of identification with their voted ballot if they did not do so with their request for an application." Some exceptions to the deadlines apply to military, overseas and emergency absentee voters. More information about the deadlines for these absentee voters is available through VotesPA.com.
The deadline to apply for absentee ballots was April 15. Traditionally, active, deployed members of the military, Pennsylvania students attending out-of-state colleges or universities, and individuals with illnesses or disabilities vote via absentee ballot. A registered absentee voter can designate someone else who can deliver his or her absentee application and ballot if he or she is physically unable to do so. "Certification of designated agent" forms are also available through VotesPA.com. In addition, Cortes is reminding voters who registered for the first time, changed address or changed party that they should have received confirmation of registration. He suggested calling county voter registration offices if they have not received such a confirmation or have questions.
