Pelosi and Boehner Announce Independent Review of House Page Program

WASHINGTON, April 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader John Boehner have selected two consultants, Richard Shapiro and William A. Weary, to conduct a comprehensive, independent review of the House Page Program.

"In addition to bipartisan legislation signed into law last year, updated rules for the Page Program and the House Inspector General's report, this independent review will ensure that a program created in 1827 effectively supports the operations of the House and serves the interests of the pages in 2008," said Speaker Pelosi and Leader Boehner.

Richard Shapiro has worked closely with the House of Representatives for over 25 years, both as a Congressional staffer and as Executive Director of the Congressional Management Foundation. William A. Weary has been a consultant on education issues for over 23 years and has served as a principal at high schools in Philadelphia and New York City. The review is expected to be completed this fall.
