RNC Response to Governor Dean on NBC'S 'Meet the Press'

WASHINGTON, April 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan released the following statement today:

"Today, we saw more of the same undignified political rhetoric and attacks from Howard Dean and the Democratic National Committee. Dean has pursued a strategy of leveling distortions and smears against the integrity and character of Republicans, in particular Senator John McCain. Considering the claims made by both Democratic presidential candidates to raise the level of discourse in our nation, one has to wonder whether those claims are mere words or have any meaning behind them. If Senator Obama's claims to engage in a new brand of politics had any merit, he would be able to convince his party chairman to act and speak in a responsible and respectful manner. How can voters have any confidence that Senator Obama has the strength to see through the reforms he is proposing when he lacks the courage to even stand up and speak out against his party chairman and demand a halt to the character attacks against John McCain?"
