WASHINGTON, April 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan released the following statement today:

"The Republican National Committee welcomes today's decision by the Supreme Court of the United States. The court recognized the right of states to put in place fair procedures to safeguard the vote, while also ensuring that every person who is entitled to vote can do so. The decision by the court's majority confirms that efforts such as Indiana's are appropriate and lawful. Rather than challenging efforts to safeguard the vote, we hope that concerned groups will work to ensure that voters know the rules, obtain the required identification, and are provided all necessary assistance to vote."
