Sudan travel advice

London, 10 May/GNN/ -- FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE News Release issued by The Government News Network on 10 May 2008 The Foreign and Commonwealth Office today changed its Travel Advice for Suda

"Following earlier reports of a large number of JEM rebels in Kordofan,
there are reports that rebels have launched an attack on Omdurman, a city
close to Khartoum on the west bank of the Nile, on the afternoon of 10 May.
The Government of Sudan has imposed a curfew across Khartoum from 1700
(local time) on 10 May to 0600 (local time). The curfew is expected to be
lifted at 1000 (local time) on 11 May. The British Embassy has advised all
UK nationals to stay indoors until further notice. Khartoum International
Airport is currently closed.
We advise against all travel to Khartoum until the situation is clearer. "
