Governor Bill Ritter Jr. Proclaims Frontier Aircraft the Official Plane of Colorado

Frontier's second Airbus A320 features state animal - named Colorado

DENVER, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines today announced that it will now fly the official plane of Colorado. In a ceremony this morning at Denver International Airport, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter Jr. proclaimed Frontier's second Airbus A320 as Colorado's official state plane. The aircraft features the state animal, a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep named Colorado, on its tail, the word "Colorado" on the nose and the state flag with Governor Ritter's signature near the front door.

"On behalf of the people of Colorado, it is my honor to proclaim Frontier's newest aircraft the official plane of Colorado. Frontier is Colorado's hometown airline and provides our community with consistent high-quality service and low-cost airfare. I am incredibly proud to have this aircraft, featuring our state animal, representing us as it flies between Colorado and our nation's capital."

"The support Frontier Airlines has received from the Colorado community over the last 14 years is both amazing and inspiring," said Frontier Airlines President and CEO Sean Menke. "This airline was built with the support of the Colorado community and continues on today because of that unwavering support. Naming our latest animal addition after the state we've called home since 1994 is our way of saying thanks for the continued loyalty."

The aircraft entered Frontier service on March 10, 2008. The 164-seat Airbus A320 provides superior comfort with wide seats and aisles. All of Frontier's Airbus aircraft offer 24 channels of live DIRECTV(R) programming and four pay-per-view movie selections in every seatback.

The Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep was adopted as the official state animal of Colorado on May 1, 1961 by an act of the General Assembly. The Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep is found only in the Rockies, usually above timberline in rugged mountainous areas. These large animals are known for their agility and perfect sense of balance. The bighorn sheep was named for its massive horns which curve backward from the forehead, down, then forward. On the ram, the horns can be as much as fifty inches in length.
