Heart Attack Apparently Claimed Life of Worker at Latrobe Specialty Steel.

LATROBE, Pa., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Brent Weikle of Shelby, Ohio, died apparently of natural causes at approximately 1:45 PM while operating an overhead crane at Latrobe Specialty Steel, Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Witnesses said Mr. Weikle suddenly slumped over the controls in the crane cab. Those on the scene reported that it looked like a heart attack. Having worked in the steel and other heavy industries for many years as an overhead crane operator, Mr. Weikle was well qualified for the work he was doing. He was 50 years old.

A death in an industrial setting, even if from natural causes, is distressing. From all outward appearances, this unfortunate event emanated from natural causes and was not a workplace accident. No other employees were injured and no equipment was damaged. Latrobe Specialty Steel immediately notified all the appropriate local and federal authorities.
