Time Warner Cable and CBS 11/TXA 21 Partner to Prepare North Texans for the Digital TV Transition
DTV Transition questions answered in a free informative forum at the Palace Theater in Grapevine on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. DALLAS, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- North Texans curious, or confused, about the February 17, 2009 digital television transition (DTV) will find answers at a community forum presented by Time Warner Cable, CBS 11 and TXA 21 at the Palace Theater, 300 South Main Street in Grapevine, on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. The DTV forum is free and open to the first 200 who register.
Hosted by CBS 11 News anchor Doug Dunbar, the event will include industry representatives explaining: the reason for the transition, the benefits of digital television and how the government's converter box coupon program works. At midnight on February 17, 2009, all full powered television stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to complete digital broadcasting. Meaning customers who use an antenna to watch television will no longer receive programming unless their television has a digital tuner, or they subscribe to a video provider carrying digital and analog signals. Time Warner Cable provides dual analog and digital signals on its North Texas lineup, according to the company.
"We want to ensure that North Texans have a clear understanding of how this transition will affect their lives," said Robert V. Moel, North Texas Division President. "Both CBS 11 and Time Warner Cable are prepared for the digital transition, this forum gives us an opportunity to explain what customers should know before it happens." Time Warner Cable says North Texans connected to its cable service will continue to receive programming after the transition. Customers with older analog televisions not connected to their video provider should make that connection prior to the transition. TWC suggests consumers in this situation consider having an extra cable outlet installed in the room where the television is located. Attendance is limited, so early registration is recommended, call 972.830.3899 or email -- dal.northtexas-RSVP@twcable.com to reserve a seat. More information on the DTV transition can be found at cbs11tv.com or at http://www.timewarnercable.com/Dallas.
