Tubbs Jones Honors Congressional Arts Competition Winners

CLEVELAND, May 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones is pleased to announce the winners of this year's Congressional Arts Competition, "An Artistic Discovery."

This year, over 140 students from schools throughout the 11th Congressional District participated in the art competition. Participating schools included Bedford High School, Charles F. Brush High School, Cleveland Central Catholic High School, Cleveland School of the Arts, Euclid High School, Hathaway Brown School, Glenville High School, South High School, Shaker Heights High School, and Warrensville Heights High School.

This year's Grand Prize winner is Joanna Mitchell of Shaker Heights High School. She will be awarded the grand prize of a scholarship to Savannah College of Art & Design and will attend the national awards ceremony in Washington D.C.

"I wish to congratulate Joanna Mitchell on being named this year's Grand Prize winner of the Congressional Arts Competition," said Rep. Tubbs Jones. "I am so very proud of all of our students and their tremendous creativity and talent."

The Congressional Arts Competition is open to all area high school students grades 9 through 12. The annual Arts Competition provides an excellent forum for demonstrating the important role that the arts play in American society, and gives students an opportunity to display their artistic skills. Students must submit their own artwork through their high school. Winners of the competition have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
