Cynthia Nixon, Gabrielle Union, Ricardo Chavira, Vanessa Carlton to Help Raise Awareness, Funds for Global Breast Cancer Leader WASHINGTON, May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Breast cancer advocates and actors/entertainers Cynthia Nixon, Gabrielle Union, Ricardo Chavira and Vanessa Carlton will join Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R) Affiliates from across the nation next week for events and activities leading up to the 19th annual Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure(R) on June 7.

Komen National Race for the Cure(R) Eve of Race event at the Newseum, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6. Chavira will kick-off Komen for the Cure's Lobby Day on Thursday, June 5, joining more than 300 Komen Affiliate activists to advocate for enhanced investments in cancer prevention, treatment and research. Nixon, Union and Carlton will participate in the 2008 Komen National Race for the Cure on Saturday, June 7, where Carlton will perform following the 5K walk/run. Nixon, a breast cancer survivor, will join Susan G. Komen for the Cure founder, Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, in leading more than 3,500 breast cancer survivors in the moving Parade of Pink during the pre-Race ceremony.
Nixon, an Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress, is best known for her role as 'Miranda' on the long-running HBO television series, Sex and the City. She will next be seen in New Line's feature film, Sex and the City: The Movie, which opens May 30, 2008. Union, one of today's hottest screen and television stars, was recently seen on ABC's Ugly Betty and in feature films Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls and the upcoming Meet Dave alongside Eddie Murphy. Chavira catapulted to fame for his role on ABC's Desperate Housewives and has been a strong advocate for breast cancer causes in honor of his mother who died from the disease. Carlton, a three-time Grammy nominee, exploded onto the music scene in 2002 with her album Be Not Nobody, and its hit singles "A Thousand Miles" and "Ordinary Day." The annual 5K Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure will be held in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, June 7, rain or shine.
