$5,000 Reward Announced in Church Fire Investigation
KEOKUK, Iowa, May 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office today announced a joint reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the May 18, 2008, fire in the Education Building of the Keokuk First Baptist Church located at 710 Blondeau Street.
The follow-up investigation and evidence, subsequently gathered at the scene, revealed the fire was intentionally set by one or more persons. The structure sustained approximately $100,000 in heavy smoke, water and fire damage. The public is asked to call the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Hotline at 1-800-532-1459, ATF's toll free hotline at 1-888-ATF-FIRE (888-283-3473) or Keokuk Police Department at 319-524-3131 with any information that may help identify those responsible for the arson fire. Both hotlines are answered 24 hours a day and all calls remain confidential.
