Nordic Windpower to Host Renowned Artist Esref Armagan, Blind From Birth, and an Exhibit of His Paintings at WINDPOWER 2008

Born into poverty and without formal schooling, Esref taught himself how to write and draw at an early age. Painting in oils, alone, and in absolute quiet, Esref's 'eyes' are his fingertips. He first plans the painting in his mind before sketching the outlines with a Braille stylus. He then applies one color at a time, often waiting for 2-3 days for each to dry before applying the next one. Hanging in his apartment in Turkey is a framed letter from former President Bill Clinton thanking the artist for his portrait.
