Korean Air Begins Sao Paulo/Los Angeles Service

LOS ANGELES, May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The only non-stop air service between Sao Paulo, Brazil and Los Angeles International Airport will commence on Monday June 2, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. as Korean Air launches its thrice weekly, three-class flights.

The airline is operating Monday, Wednesday and Friday flights from LAX to Sao Paulo (GRU) using Boeing 777-200 aircraft outfitted with lie-flat sleeper seats in premium classes and on-demand movies and music throughout the aircraft. The flights depart LAX at 7:30 p.m. and arrive in Sao Paulo at 11:00 a.m. the next morning. The return flight on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, leaves Sao Paulo at 1:30 p.m. and arrives at LAX at 9:30 p.m. the same day.

Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil with a population of more than 10 million, the most populous city in South America. Korean Air is the only airline with nonstop service between Los Angeles and Brazil.

Korean Air is the largest transpacific passenger carrier out of Los Angeles, and flies from more cities in the Americas to more cities in Asia than any other airline in the world. According to the Los Angeles Mayor's office, this new service will provide an important connection between Asia and Brazil that could generate a significant positive economic impact on the Southern California economy.
