Jive Software Joins Data Portability Project
Open Standards, Protocol Support Drive Jive's Leadership Among Enterprise Software Vendors PORTLAND, Ore., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Jive Software, the pure-play collaboration software leader, today announced that it has joined the Data Portability Project. Jive will be a driving force in establishing best practices for data portability within the enterprise and in customer communities. Jive joins Google, Facebook, Microsoft, LinkedIn, SixApart, and Digg as the first corporate vendors to embrace the Data Portability Project. Data portability can help remove barriers between companies' employees, their customers and business partners.
"As users inside and outside the firewall demand control over their personal and corporate profile data, data portability has emerged as an issue of critical enterprise importance," said Chris Saad, co-founder and chair, Data Portability Project. "Jive is taking an important leadership position by demonstrating compliance well ahead of legacy vendors offering closed, proprietary collaboration platforms." The Data Portability Project is currently developing Best Practices for data portability in the enterprise. Jive will be leveraging its experience in software deployments at over 2,000 enterprises to help drive that effort. Jive's Clearspace and Clearspace Community platforms already support the majority of standards and protocols outlined in DPP Best Practices, with additional support to follow in the next release of both products.
"The benefits of data portability are not confined to consumer social networks," said Matt Tucker, CTO, Jive Software. "Corporate users maintain profiles behind the firewall as well as in external communities and third party platforms, and the ability to simply and securely migrate that information as necessary will be a boon to the IT organizations of tomorrow."
